In olden days, Indian Handloom Industry was not having trained technical personnel.

About IIHT Bargarh

Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT), Bargarh, Odisha is one of the six Institutes in the country functioning under the Central Sector IIHTs. The other Central Sector Institutes are located in Varanasi, Salem, Guwahati, Jodhpur, and Fulia. Additionally, five State Sector Institutes are located at Venkatagiri, Gadag, Champa, Kannur, and Hyderabad.

IIHT Bargarh was established in 2008 and offers a three-year Diploma in Handloom and Textile Technology. Bargarh is a small town and the district headquarters, located on National Highway 6 (NH6). It is situated 50 km from Sambalpur to the east, 225 km from Raipur (the capital of Chhattisgarh), and 325 km from Bhubaneswar (the capital of Odisha).I.I.H.T. Bargarh,Odisha.
